Howdy! Who the heck is this bear?
I'm a 46 yr old former radio DJ with 17 years of on-air-programming & sales experience working at small and medium market stations in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. All kinds of formats from Classic Rock, Oldies, Country, Adult Contemporary, Alternative and Christian music. I've been living in the "piney woods" of East Texas for over 20 years, despite my attempts to escape.
At this time I'm thankfully self-employed working for my family now after all the craziness, low pay, lack of respect and plenty of other management B.S. I put up while working in radio.
"Wild Bill" is a ancient high school nickname, circa 1977. I don't know who gave it to me first but it stuck with my classmates and even my teachers. I later used it on BBS's in the 1980's (with my Commodore 64 and 128) and on IRC by the mid 1990's. When I got on the internet in 1995 I discovered zillions of "Wild Bill"'s online so I tacked on the TX. I used to be pretty wild in my high school and college days but have mellowed out over the years - guess that happens to anyone when they get into their 40's!
I love a lot of things:
1) Music! All kinds but especially Power Pop, Oldies, Classic 60's-to-80's Rock, Soul and some Country. I started collecting records when I was 4 and haven't stopped buying records yet. I have a monstrous CD and Record library. I also have reel-to-reel, and even old 8-tracks buried somewhere in my closet. I also have enough cassettes to probably stack to the moon..
2) Sports! Hockey (Bossier City-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League, Dallas Stars), Baseball (Houston Astros , Rangers & Kansas City Royals) and Football (Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners)
3) Comics! Classic/Golden/Bronze Age DC and classic Marvel Superheros. Plus many, Many kids comics like Carl Barks' classic "Uncle Scrooge" and Gold Key (also known as Dell and later Whitman) comics they used to sell years ago. Also many now-classic "Funny Animals" anthropomorphic comics from the mid-late 80's.
4) Compooters! I have built about 20 computers for myself and friends over the years, using mostly AMD Processors, Abit Motherboards and other stuff I pick up at sales.
5) Movies! (Disney or Computer Animation, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Comedy)
6) And trying to lose weight (hey, who isn't trying to do that now?)
